Four Generations of Quilters
I was born into a family of makers and I've been surrounded by a can-do attitude and an appreciation of craftsmanship my entire life. We have four generations of quilters in the family, from my grandmother down through my young children who have also really fallen for this art we all love. Your quilt will be in good hands.

Preparing Your Quilt
Your quilt will be handled with care from hand off through completion. Please make sure your quilt is prepared properly so that I can do the best possible job with your project:
Machine quilting will not fix poor sewing, puckering, unevenness, etc in a quilt top so take care when sewing and ironing your work.
Trim all threads as you work and give it one last look before you drop it off to be sure there are no loose or long threads.
Press your quilt top and ensure that the top is flat.
The backing must be a minimum of 4-5 inches larger than your quilt top on all sides (ex: a 90" x 90" quilt top will need a 100" x 100" backing). This allows the quilt to be loaded properly onto the long arm frame. The maximum quilt top width for the frame is 105 inches.
Press your backing to ensure that it is without creases.
If your backing fabric is directional, please indicate the top with a pinned note.
For seamed backing, please trim the selvage before sewing together. For best results, use a 1/4-1/2" seam allowance, then press.
Edge-to-Edge Computerized Quilting
Edge-to-edge machine quilting will begin on one side of the quilt with repeating design across to the other side of the quilt. The design will continue in rows to the bottom of the quilt. In most cases, the design can be nested so the rows are less defined to give an "all over" quilting design. Edge-to-edge quilting does not allow for quilting around certain blocks or areas.
Choosing a Quilting Design
I will work with you to select a design that compliments your quilt. Many quilters have an idea in mind already or I can give design suggestions. We have a catalog of designs to choose from, but if I do not have the particular design you'd like, there are an abundance of options for purchase online that we can discuss.
Batting
The batting you choose will give the look, feel, and care you desire for your quilt. You can choose from many fibers such as cotton, poly, wool, bamboo, etc. Your batting should be the same size as your backing and should be suitable for machine quilting.
Thread
I use Fil-Tec Glide and Superior Omni Thread. These are both polyester threads and are machine washable. They are available in a variety of colors which you can choose based on how you'd like your design to look on your quilt. The thread on the quilt top and backing will be the same color.
Completing Your Quilt
Your quilt will be returned to you as it comes off the quilt frame. If you prefer to have your quilt trimmed of the excess backing and batting so that it's ready for binding, that service can be added. If you are a non-quilter finishing a loved one's quilt, let me know and I may be able to help you complete the project!
